FNB Racing returned to action for round #3 of the OMRRA Championship this past weekend and continued their great riding with solid top 10 finishes. Justin visited computrack in CA during the AMA Superbike races @ Infineon Raceway and was looking forward to seeing how his new setup worked. The frame appeared to be straight and the team was back to the drawing board on the geometry as the culprit. Once the team arrived at the track, they found out that Dunlop does not have any 190 rear tires and won't be getting any. WHAT?? All this work to get the bike setup on the 190 was out the window. We threw on the 200 (which robs too much HP from a 600 and doesn't allow bike to turn), and tried to find a setup for it in only 1/2 day practice due to limited track time. The setup was fine tuned all weekend but in the end, the rear tire wear was still terrible, now because of the size and handling. Since nothing was working and the bike handled terrible, Justin decided to try a different compound tire in addition to the 200. He had to work hard to ride the bike but was able to turn the same laptimes as before all his setup changes and the new compound wore much better. It was a ton of work and in the end, trying a new compound earlier in the year would of been probably the hot setup. The team plans on doing a few trackdays to try and get the bikes setup for the 200 and hopes Dunlop will find a way to get more 190's in the states, the 200 is not a suitable option for the 600.
Tamer had a good weekend after deciding to run take off 190's all weekend from the teams used tire stock. After seeing Justin struggle with setup, he didn't want to make any changes to his bike with the limited seat time prior to this weekend races.
